Stewardship

2026 Stewardship Commitment

Let us rise up and build.
— Nehemiah 2:18

All Stewardship pledges support the church and its ministries, and no pledge is too small. Our church and its ministries require your assistance, so we ask that you please give as generously as you can to your spiritual home.

Stewardship Pledge Form 2026

If you prefer to submit your stewardship form in person instead of online, you can print the 2026 form found here, 2026 Stewardship Form, fill it out and return it to the church office. Stewardship pledge forms can also be found throughout the church facilities, including the Narthex and the office.

Does your employer offer matching donations

Your employer could be offering Matching Gifts Programs as an easy and structured way for them to support good work in the community. Please ask your employer if they offer some type of philanthropic program in which a company may financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. When an employee makes a donation, they will request the matching gift from their employer to the specific nonprofit organization.

In order to assist our Saint Nicholas Community, we are kindly asking that you learn more about Company Matching Donations at work by inquiring with your Company's Human Resources Department if it offers a similar program. Please note that Saint Nicholas Church would be identified in a Company Matching Program as "Greek Orthodox Community of Santa Clara County".

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is a 501©3 Corporation and our tax ID is 94-1578745.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I become a Steward?
A: The easiest way is online! To pledge, simply go to our website saintnicholas.org and click the “Become a Steward” button and this will take you to our online Stewardship page. Under “Make a pledge” enter your total pledge amount for the year and then select if this should be setup as a recurring donation, or setup as simply a pledge.

If you prefer to submit your stewardship form in person instead of online, you can print the form found on our website, fill it out and return it to the church office. Stewardship pledge forms can also be found throughout the church facilities, including the Narthex and the office.

Q: How do I decide what to give financially?
A: Begin with prayer. Reflect on your income, responsibilities, and the needs of the parish. The biblical tithe (10%) is an ancient guide (Lev. 27:30). We understand that families give to multiple charities/ non-profits as well, so some families might consider a half (5%) or quarter (2.5%) tithe. Even a modest, consistent gift - given with love - becomes a powerful act of faith when joined with others.

Q: What is the easiest way to fulfill my pledge?
A: The easiest way is online! If you went online, entered your pledge amount for the year and selected recurring payments and credit card/ account information, you are all set. By the end of the year your Stewardship pledge will be fulfilled.

If you simply pledged online (no recurring setup) or submitted a Stewardship form, you can still fulfill your pledge online. Simply go to our website saintnicholas.org, click on the “Donate” button and select “Stewardship” under funds.

Offerings can also be made by check, envelopes, or credit card payments, though these may not be as convenient.

Progress toward your Stewardship pledge can be found by signing in to your account on Pushpay (this is the service our Church uses for online donations and pledges)

Q: When should I make my stewardship commitment?
A: Our stewardship year follows the calendar year (January 1 – December 31). We invite pledges and would ask you to turn in your commitment form by January 31st. This helps the Parish Council plan ministries, pay staff, maintain facilities, and support outreach. You may submit or update your pledge anytime—online, by mail, or in person.

Q: I don’t like to fulfill my pledge until December. Should I still pledge in January?
A: Yes. January pledging allows for effective parish fiscal budgeting. Pledge your annual amount, then fulfill by giving weekly, monthly, semi-annually or annually.

Q: Is my giving amount kept private?
A: Absolutely. Only the Parish Treasurer/ Accountant and designated Council member see individual pledges, and they are bound by confidentiality. We may publish a list of participating stewards to honor commitment, but never the amounts.

Q: I already pay for Greek dance, Greek School, Basketball, etc. Why stewardship too?
A: These programs operate independently from the church operating budget. The church provides the facility in addition to expenses enabling their operation. It is also important to know that families participating in these ministries must be currently pledged stewards.

Q: If I donate to a memorial fund, building, festival, or event, does that count as part of my stewardship?
A: No. Your stewardship is represented entirely by your stated pledge and goes to support general operations.

Q: What if my financial situation changes during the year?
A: Your pledge is a statement of intention, not a contract. If circumstances change, simply contact the priest or stewardship chair. We will adjust your record with understanding and without judgment. God honors faithfulness, not perfection.
