Altar Servers

To reverently serve God and His Church in the Holy Altar. Through their offering of service during the Liturgy of the Church, they fulfill a sacred and indispensable role in the Liturgical life of the Church. Because of their sacred duties, they are distinguished from the rest of the faithful by wearing a στιχάριον (robe), and, for those tonsured as readers, an οράριον (stole), the traditional vestments associated with διακονία (service). Young men of the Orthodox Faith are invited.

The duties and goals of the Altar Servers are to learn the meaning and order of each Liturgical Service through participation in those Services and to grow in one’s Faith and Orthodox Christian commitment with attentiveness and prayer at the services.

Any men or boys who would like the blessing of participating in altar service, and are Baptized members of the Orthodox Church, are welcome to sign up for service. Please use the form below to sign up.
